Tsavo East N. Park & Taita Hills

Explore the vibrant ecosystems of Tsavo East National Park and the unique Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the architecturally stunning Salt Lick Lodge, where wildlife gathers at a waterhole right beneath your accommodation.
Departure around 06:15 from your resort. The road to Tsavo East Reserve is a red dirt road, and we will pass through the largest forest in Kenya and typical African villages. Our first stop will be at Crocodile Point, where we can admire crocodiles in the Galana River and watch the monkeys. We will arrive at the park entrance around 10:00 and immediately begin the Game Drive (photo safari) until lunchtime, searching for animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, cheetahs, leopards, hippos, zebras, and many others that inhabit the African savannah.
We will arrive at the lodge or camp around 13:00. After checking in and receiving your room, you can enjoy a buffet lunch and relax in your room or by the pool. At around 15:45, we will depart for the second game drive until sunset, when we will return to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.
We venture into the private reserve of Taita Hill. Amidst the gentle hills of Africa, lies a private reserve where you can opt for a night safari if you wish.
This reserve, thanks to its location, is a unique ecosystem. It is called the “Little Serengeti”! Here, you can witness large herds of elephants quenching their thirst just a few meters away from you, eland, giraffes, zebras, and lions with thick manes.
It’s a one-of-a-kind place in all of Kenya! You will spend the night in an exclusive lodge built on stilts.
Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay at Sarova Salt Lick Lodge on stilts are included.
Another game drive in the reserve, lunch, and return to your village passing through Kaloleni, amidst rich coconut plantations, and authentic African villages.
Fill the form and a member of our team will get back to you to confrim your safari booking.

The Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for the Salt Lick Safari Lodge. This lodge is built on high stilts overlooking a series of waterholes and a salt lick. It offers a unique 24-hour viewing experience where you can watch elephants and buffalo from the comfort of the bar, restaurant, or even a subterranean tunnel that leads to a “hide” right at ground level with the animals.
Tsavo East: Known for its vast, open, and flat savannahs, famous “red” elephants, and the Galana River. It offers a sense of immense scale.
Taita Hills: A private sanctuary that serves as a vital corridor between Tsavo East and Tsavo West. It is greener, more mountainous, and because it is a private sanctuary, it allows for night game drives (optional) which are not permitted in the National Parks.
Usually, the first night is spent in a lodge or camp in Tsavo East (like Ashnil Aruba or Voi Safari Lodge) and the second night is spent at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge or Taita Hills Safari Resort. Both provide high-standard amenities, swimming pools, and en-suite bathrooms.
Yes, but only in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Since it is a private sanctuary, optional night game drives can be arranged for an extra fee. This is a rare opportunity to see nocturnal animals like bushbabies, owls, and predators on the hunt.
Transport in a specialized 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser
All park and sanctuary entrance fees.
Two nights’ accommodation on a full-board basis (Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast).
Professional English-speaking driver-guide.
Daily game drives as per the itinerary.
Bottled drinking water.
Smart-Casual Evening Wear: Salt Lick Safari Lodge has a slightly more formal dining atmosphere than standard bush camps.
Binoculars: Essential for spotting wildlife in the Taita Hills valley.
Warm Layer: Taita Hills is at a higher elevation than Tsavo East and can get quite cool and misty in the evenings and early mornings.
This is arguably the best short safari for photography. The elevated views from Salt Lick Lodge and the contrast between the red soil of Tsavo and the green hills of Taita provide stunning backdrops for wildlife shots.
